Masani and Hayden at CBUS Stadium, Gold Coast.

Our first client: Hayden.

Meet Hayden.

Hayden’s favourite NRL team is the South Sydney Rabbitohs. He has supported them his entire life but never had the opportunity to watch his heroes play live. With the NRL bubble and due to COVID restrictions, all the NRL teams were now based in Queensland for the remainder of the 2021 season. We took advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity and made sure we got tickets. Hayden was finally able to watch his favourite team take to the field, see his heroes within arms length and experience the atmosphere of the Stadium.

Hayden Saunders became our very first client. We would work with him 1-2 times a week assisting his grandmother with Hayden’s routine. Hayden’s grandmother has taken care of him since he was a baby. Over time as our relationship of trust grew, we were able to push the comfort line a little and did more things that Hayden always wanted to do but never had the opportunity in the past. He realised that he had a say on what he wanted to spend his time on. Instead of turning up to a pre-planned day of activities that he had to participate in, even if he didn’t want to be there, Hayden now has the freedom to choose what activities he wants do on a regular basis.

Cultivate Carer, Helaman, with Hayden on a hike.

With this new sense of freedom and flexibility in his life he decided he wanted to pursue ten pin bowling and see how far he can go in the sport. Even though he is in a wheelchair he doesn’t let that stop him. He gets coached twice a week and participates in regular competitions. His goal is to be the best ten pin bowler in a wheelchair in the world. Hayden has been our greatest supporter and inspiration to keep at this business, most of our ideas and planned activities have come from him and many of our clients. They know what they want and what is missing out there. We discuss constantly about Cultivate Care and how we can best serve the community. Hayden doesn’t let anything stop him with achieving his goals and reminds us to do the same.

If you are looking at someone or if you know someone who wants similar care, please send us a note and we’ll be happy to get back to you with options on how we can best be there with you.
